A TRUE LIFE INSPIRING STORY OF SUCCESS...
This story is very important to every child/parent.
PLEASE READ!
Thomas Alva Edison had only three months of
schooling before he was considered by his
teacher, “too stupid to learn”, and was sent home.
His teacher actually concluded that Thomas Alva
Edison could not learn and was stupid;
One day Thomas Edison came home and gave a
paper to his mother.
He told her, “My teacher gave this paper to me and
told me to only give it to my mother.”
His mother’s eyes were tearful as she read the
letter out loud to her child:
"Your son is a genius.
This school is too small for him and doesn’t have
enough good teachers for training him.
Please teach him yourself".
To Thomas, he was proud of himself when he
heard what he thought was the content of letter.
But Nancy Edison – his mother, decided to teach
Thomas herself after reading the content of the
letter.
However, she did encourage him to be self-
educated and he spent most of his time in the
library reading books, especially scientific books.
Thus, his mother later bought him the Dictionary of
Science, and he read it.
In the nearest future, Thomas started carrying out
experiments and tried many other things-he tried,
failed but kept trying. He never gave up!
One of his inventions was the electric light bulb.
He succeeded only after failing more than 10,000
times
After many, many years, after Edison’s mother died
and he was now one of the greatest inventors of
the century, one day he was looking through old
family things.
Suddenly he saw a folded paper in the corner of a
drawer in a desk-the same paper his teacher sent
to his mum many years back.
He took it and opened it up.
On the paper was written: "Your son is addled
[mentally ill]. We won’t let him come to school
any more".
Edison cried for hours and then he wrote in his
diary: “Thomas Alva Edison was an addled child
that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the
century.”
Never Give up. Be confident.
Remember – (be it life, sports, career or any
competition) – any battle is won twice –
FIRST IN YOUR HEAD…….
NOTE:
If you are a mother/father reading this, never write
off your child.
I have been hearing parents labelling their children
as 'idiot', 'animal', useless thing', 'dunce', etc.
Please, this is not the right thing!
Pray for them, encourage them and guide them in
the right direction.
If you play your part as a responsible parent, the
sky will surely be the begining of that child-learn
from Nancy Edison, Thomas' mother.
